If it fits in CAD, it will fit on the boat
A component fits perfectly in the 3D model. So we’re good to go, right? Not necessarily.
A successful design has to account for far more than geometry. Can the equipment actually be installed? Can pipes and cables be routed without interference? Is there enough clearance for the connections? And, perhaps most importantly, can the component be accessed, maintained and eventually removed?
A design that works on screen isn’t necessarily a design that works in production. That’s why engineering is about more than making components fit. It means understanding how the whole vessel will be assembled, operated and maintained. The real test isn’t whether it fits in CAD. It’s whether it works in the real world.
Have you ever met a design that looked perfect on screen and fell apart during installation?
